STEAM @ SSESH – Monday, April 8

Eyes in Front, Likes to Hunt

Eyes to the Side, Likes to Hide

The Texas Wildlife Association will be on campus on Monday, April 8, 2024, to take students in Kindergarten and above on a journey through a trunk of treasures, including wildlife pelts, skulls, and more.

The Texas Wildlife Association was formed in 1985 by a group of ranchers, wildlife managers, and hunters dedicated to the conservation, management, and enhancement of wildlife and wildlife habitat on private lands.

Texas is 95 percent private land, and over two-thirds of the United States is privately owned. Texas hunters, anglers, wildlife watchers, and conservationists recognized the necessity of working cooperatively with private landowners on wildlife, habitat, and conservation issues.

Rev. Lisa Hunt, Rector of St. Stephen’s, Announces Retirement

On April 2, 2024, the Rev. Lisa Hunt, Rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church & School for the past 18 years, announced her retirement in a letter to the church and school. Her last Sunday as Rector will be Pentecost, May 19, 2024.

Rev. Hunt said,

St. Stephen’s has been a wonderful home to me and my family for these 18 years, as a parish and as a school. I appreciate your courage, insight, and persistence. Together we have built a resilient community of faith which embraces all and forms people of all ages with grace. We have weathered financial challenges, a pandemic and exercised fortitude to engage hard questions. Thank you for the privilege of serving as your Rector and the President of the St. Stephen’s School Board of Trustees.

After Lisa’s final Sunday, the Vestry will work with the Diocese to find an Interim Rector to fulfill pastoral and administrative needs until a new Rector is called. To read her the full letters from Rev. Hunt and the Vestry, please follow this link to the church website.

Clothing Drive for CCSC

Please bring your gently worn clothes to the School (Gathering Area by the main reception desk) for our community partner, Christian Community Service Center (CCSC), between April 7 and May 5, 2024! Mens’ and children’s clothing are particularly needed. Underwear and socks must be new and in a wrapper. The mission of CCSC is to serve the poor, hungry, disabled, and otherwise needy while respecting their religious, ethnic, or cultural differences. Visit www.ccschouston.org to learn more.

Bulldog Compliments

At St. Stephen’s, we have an easy way for anyone in the St. Stephen’s community to show their appreciation for a faculty, staff, or leadership team member. We call it sending a “Bulldog Compliment.”

Here is how it works. Click the Send A Bulldog Compliment image and follow the prompts. It only takes a few clicks, and you are done.

All compliments are anonymous and will be sent to the person (or persons) you choose to recognize. There is no limit to how many you can send, so be as generous as you wish!
