Accreditation Surveys

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, Houston, has embarked upon a journey of self-study, an accreditation visit, and, ultimately, re-accreditation by the American Montessori Society (AMS) and the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES).

SAES will be reaching out to families, faculty and staff, alumni, and Board Members, asking stakeholders to complete anonymous surveys that will assist St. Stephen’s in evaluating and improving our operations, governance, and educational programs. Please be looking for your invitation to contribute to this important process of growth and inquiry for our school.

The American Montessori Society (AMS) is a hub for all things Montessori: an information center for over 18,000 members, the media, and the public; a voice in the public policy arena; and a mobilizing force for the global Montessori community, through support services, research, and professional development events.

The Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES), a member of the International Council Advancing Independent School Accreditation (ICAISA), has voluntarily submitted to a rigorous and impartial review of its accreditation program and demonstrated adherence to the Council’s Criteria for Effective Independent School Accreditation Practices. SAES is commended by ICAISA for the quality of the Association’s accreditation program for its Member Schools. SAES is recognized by state agencies in Texas (TEPSAC) and Oklahoma (OPSAC) and by the eleven Episcopal dioceses within the six states served by SAES.

Socktober!

A big thank you to everyone who joined us at the Socktober Kick off Sock Hop! If you couldn’t make it – have no fear – there is plenty of time to participate in Socktober and we’ve left materials for donation stations in the front office for anyone who wants to create their own. We can make a big impact and serve our community when we all work together.

What is Socktober?

Socks are among the most needed items yet the least donated – we have a chance to make an impact this October by turning the month into Socktober! We will be collecting new mens, womens, and childrens socks that will be distributed to our neighbors in need through our partnership with Montrose Grace Place for the entire month.

How do you Socktober?

St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church and School community members can make a great difference by giving the gift of warmth and comfort this Fall. Get your family and community involved, tell other people about socktober and maybe it will inspire them to help others as well! When you go out and speak to neighbors, family and friends about this sock drive you create and strengthen an even wider circle of goodness.

So many fun ways to encourage participation!

  • Create a donation station for folks to drop off socks. Materials for this are available at the front desk at SSESH!
  • Work with your family to create an Amazon wishlist of sock multipacks for easy click, buy and send.
  • Use social media and email to tell people about Socktober and give a shout out to people when sock donations appear at your door!
  • Invite everyone to help others. If they live far away, encourage them to donate socks to their local shelter or an organization in their area this month.
  • Use sidewalk chalk to remind people about Socktober as they walk down the sidewalk!
  • Make your own video explaining the project to share with friends – here’s a great example from Brad Montague and Kid President who gave us the idea for this annual service project! “How do you Socktober?” Kid President Video : https://youtu.be/Z1YIK5UOnOM

New option for 2023

If you would like your neighbors and friends to have the option to donate funds to support the PTO’s 2023 socktober efforts this link will take them to the socktober fund that we will use to purchase bulk socks at the end of the month to add to the collection on November 6th.

What are we going to do with all of these socks!?

Everyone will collect socks throughout the month and bring them in to the front office baskets at St. Stephen’s as often as you feel like it. Be sure to bring ALL socks up to school no later than Monday, November 6th so that we can deliver them to Montrose Grace Place for distribution after All School Chapel on November 8th!

Helping other people is awesome!

Happy Socktober!

Share! Share! Share!

Think of what we can do TOGETHER!!

Bulldog Compliments

At St. Stephen’s, we have an easy way for anyone in the St. Stephen’s community to show their appreciation for a faculty, staff, or leadership team member. We call it sending a “Bulldog Compliment.” Here is how it works. Click the Send A Bulldog Compliment image and follow the prompts. It only takes a few clicks, and you are done. All compliments are anonymous and will be sent to the person (or persons) you choose to recognize. There is no limit to how many you can send, so be as generous as you wish!
