Upcoming Events

February Service Project

February is all about sharing love, and our SSESH community is coming together to support Kids’ Meals Houston! Throughout the month, we’ll be collecting applesauce pouches and decorating brown paper lunch bags to brighten a child’s day.
How you can help:
  • Donate applesauce pouches—reach out to your family, friends, and neighbors!
  • Drop off donations at the front desk by February 21 or bring them to carline at the end of the month.
Let’s make a difference together!

Friday, February 14th

Valentine’s Day is a wonderful opportunity for students to share appreciation and kindness with their classmates! Teachers will reach out via email with the number of students in each class. If your child would like to participate, they are invited to bring valentines for every student in their class. Please be sure to follow any specific guidelines provided by your child’s level.

Let’s spread kindness and celebrate friendship! 💕

Second Trimester Conferences

Mark your calendars! Parent-Teacher Conferences are scheduled for Friday, February 21st. As the date approaches, you will receive an email from your child’s teacher with a sign-up link to schedule your conference time.

Please note that for 1st grade and up, students are expected to attend their conference alongside their parents.

Conference Care will be available for families who need childcare during their scheduled conference time. For any questions regarding Conference Care, please contact Chughes@ssesh.org and Cgiles@ssesh.org.

A Journey Through Asia

Join us for the Upper Elementary Cultural Fair on Thursday, February 27, right after carpool in Pecore Hall! (Please check in at the office first.)

Since November, our students have been immersed in the study of Asia—exploring its history, geography, government, art, music, culture, and cuisine. This beloved annual tradition transforms Pecore Hall into a multimedia museum experience, where students showcase their research and creativity in an interactive and engaging way.

Don’t miss this incredible opportunity to celebrate their hard work and gain a deeper appreciation for the rich and diverse cultures of Asia!

Our Annual Snow Day

On Friday, February 28, SSESH students will celebrate our Annual Karen Soh Snow Day, a beloved school tradition created by Karen Soh, a cherished member of our community. Since her passing in 2020, we have honored her legacy by continuing this special event, bringing real snow to campus for students to enjoy during the school day.

Children will have the opportunity to play in the snow and take turns going down the snow slide. Please send your child to school with mittens and winter accessories so they can fully enjoy the experience. This is a student-only event, and we look forward to another magical day of winter fun! ❄️⛄💙

Join Us!

Join us for a fun and relaxing evening at Café Brasil on Friday, February 28 at 6:30 PM for our SSESH Grownups community eventCocktails & Coloring! Come grab a drink or snack, meet other parents, and help decorate lunch bags for Kids’ Meals Houston. The SSESH PTO tables will be on the back patio, so drop by anytime for some casual conversation and creative fun. We’ll also share more details about our SSESH Shares Love initiative and how you can help make an impact. We can’t wait to see you there!

Get to Know Our New School Counselor

St. Stephen’s Episcopal School is thrilled to welcome Kate Hicks as our new school counselor. Kate holds a Master’s degree in social development from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. With over a decade of experience in education, she has served as a bilingual elementary teacher, administrator, and counselor, working in public, charter, and private schools both in the United States and abroad.

A proud Houstonian, Kate loves the diversity of the Montrose community, where she lives with her husband and their four children—two girls and two boys, ages 11, 9, 7, and 3—all of whom attend school in the neighborhood. She considers her children to be her greatest teachers. Their family enjoys traveling but especially loves hopping on the light rail near their home to catch Astros games downtown. They also share a love for backyard farming and appreciate that their neighbors don’t mind their 12 chickens!

Kate is excited to bring her passion for student well-being to SSESH and looks forward to supporting our students and families this year.

Bulldog Compliments

At St. Stephen’s, we have an easy way for anyone in the St. Stephen’s community to show their appreciation for a faculty, staff, or leadership team member. We call it sending a “Bulldog Compliment.”

Here is how it works. Click the Send A Bulldog Compliment image and follow the prompts. It only takes a few clicks, and you are done.

All compliments are anonymous and will be sent to the person (or persons) you choose to recognize. There is no limit to how many you can send, so be as generous as you wish!
