Bring Your Parent to School Day!
We’re excited to announce Bring Your Parent to School Day on October 24th for Purple House and October 25th for Teal House (Primary through Middle Years). This special event will take place in the mornings from 8:30 am to 10:00 am, featuring specific time slots for parents to join their child in the classroom.
During this time, parents will have the opportunity to engage with their child’s learning environment, participate in activities, and see the work they’ve been doing. It’s a wonderful chance to strengthen the connection between home and school.
Teachers will be reaching out in the coming weeks to schedule these time slots, so keep an eye on your inbox for more details!
Upper Elementary’s Adventure at Nature’s Classroom
Our Upper Elementary students spent this week at Nature’s Classroom in New Ulm, Texas, enjoying an unforgettable experience surrounded by nature. Embracing the guiding principle of “live in the moment,” they fully immersed themselves in the outdoor environment and the unique learning opportunities.
Throughout the trip, students took on leadership roles, working together in activities that encouraged teamwork and problem-solving. They enjoyed family-style meals, sharing stories and laughter, strengthening their sense of community. Evenings were filled with fun, playing games, and marveling at the night sky.
This experience brought classroom lessons to life while fostering personal growth, independence, and lasting memories. We’re excited to see the lasting impact of their time at Nature’s Classroom!
Socktober: Join Us for a Month of Service!
Next week marks the start of Socktober, our month-long service project dedicated to supporting those experiencing housing insecurity.
What is Socktober?
Socktober is a national movement that connects young people with their communities by providing socks and financial support to local organizations. Socks are one of the most-needed and least-donated items in shelters. This initiative began in 2011 when students sought a tangible way to make a positive impact. The simple act of donating a pair of socks can make a significant difference, while also instilling the values of service and compassion in our youth.
What Are We Doing?
At St. Stephen’s, we are partnering with Grace Place, a non-profit organization that supports teens in Montrose. Grace Place offers a safe and welcoming environment for vulnerable youth experiencing homelessness, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender. They provide not only clothing but also food, skill-building opportunities, mentorship, and access to essential resources. We encourage students and families to discuss the needs of unhoused teens in our community and consider donating socks or funds to help.
How Can We Donate?
Throughout October, a collection box will be available in front of the church by Ms. Whitney’s desk. Please drop off NEW socks at any time this month. The socks will be blessed during chapel service and delivered to Grace Place on behalf of St. Stephen’s. If you would like to make a monetary donation to support Grace Place’s services, you can contribute HERE, and 100% of the funds will be sent as a collective gift at the end of the month.
Also Have Shoes to Donate?
St. Stephen’s Church is collecting shoes for Lord of the Streets, a ministry that serves homeless or low-income men. The greatest need is for new or gently used men’s shoes. A donation bin will be placed in the front office, next to the Socktober bin, for all adult shoe donations throughout October.
Thank you for your generosity and support during Socktober! Together, we can make a meaningful difference in our community.

Hurricane Beryl Tree Damage Fund
Hurricane Beryl caused significant damage to the trees and buildings at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, resulting in costly repairs. While insurance covered part of the expenses, we are still left with a substantial balance. If you’re able, please consider supporting our Beryl Tree Damage Fund.

Bulldog Compliments
At St. Stephen’s, we have an easy way for anyone in the St. Stephen’s community to show their appreciation for a faculty, staff, or leadership team member. We call it sending a “Bulldog Compliment.”
Here is how it works. Click the Send A Bulldog Compliment image and follow the prompts. It only takes a few clicks, and you are done.
All compliments are anonymous and will be sent to the person (or persons) you choose to recognize. There is no limit to how many you can send, so be as generous as you wish!
