End-of-Year Message from Head of School

May 24, 2024

Dear St. Stephen’s Community,

As we conclude the 2023-24 academic year, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude for the extraordinary achievements and milestones our school community has reached. This year has been a testament to the unwavering dedication, hard work, and collaborative spirit that define St. Stephen’s.

Our students have truly embodied the values of kindness and curiosity, excelling both academically and socially. As they close out this year with high fives and cherished memories, we celebrate their journey through Montessori education, enriched by our robust specialist classes. To the families leaving St. Stephen’s, please know that you will always be a member of our community; we look forward to connecting with you in meaningful ways in the future.

Our graduates are now stepping into their roles as St. Stephen’s alumni and joining the ranks of first-year students at St. Pius and St. Francis. The Class of 2024 leaves with unforgettable experiences from SeaCamp San Diego—boogie boarding with seals and exploring tide pools—and Washington, D.C.—enjoying ice cream at sundown and visiting George Washington’s grave. Congratulations to Celeste, Baxter, and Jonas! We are immensely proud of you.

These achievements would not be possible without the exceptional commitment of our teachers and staff. Their passion for education and dedication to nurturing each student’s potential have been truly inspiring. From developing innovative curricula to providing individualized support, our educators have gone above and beyond to ensure every student has a robust toolbox for success.

St. Stephen’s commitment to Integrity, Grace, Respect, Optimism, and Wisdom has not only been nurtured within our community but also shared with the wider world. Looking ahead to the 2024-25 academic year, we are excited to welcome over 40 new students and their families. Our enrollment remains strong, with Orientation, Primary, and Lower Elementary at or nearing capacity as we close this academic year.

Thank you for being an integral part of our community and for sharing St. Stephen’s with your friends and family. Together, we have made the 2023-24 academic year an outstanding success. I am confident that we will continue to achieve great things in the future.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable summer break.

With gratitude,

Dr. Troy Roddy

Bulldog Compliments

At St. Stephen’s, we have an easy way for anyone in the St. Stephen’s community to show their appreciation for a faculty, staff, or leadership team member. We call it sending a “Bulldog Compliment.”

Here is how it works. Click the Send A Bulldog Compliment image and follow the prompts. It only takes a few clicks, and you are done.

All compliments are anonymous and will be sent to the person (or persons) you choose to recognize. There is no limit to how many you can send, so be as generous as you wish!
