Independence in Action

Children in Primary take pride in purposeful work. They prepare their own snacks, clean their workspaces, water plants, and care for classroom materials. These daily routines develop responsibility, fine motor skills, and self-confidence.

Kindness, grace, and respect are modeled and practiced as students learn to care not only for themselves, but for one another and their environment.

Children build strong literacy foundations through spoken language, storytelling, and writing. Materials like sandpaper letters and movable alphabets help students connect sounds to symbols and construct words with purpose and joy.

As they move through the sequence, reading emerges naturally, fueled by curiosity and supported by intentional guidance.

Math concepts are introduced using concrete, hands-on materials. Students explore numerals, quantity, place value, and all four operations—building a deep understanding of how numbers work.

Rather than memorizing facts, children discover patterns, solve problems, and gain mathematical confidence at their own pace.

Sensorial materials help students refine their senses and classify the world around them. They sort by size, shape, texture, color, sound, and smell—building vocabulary and strengthening observation skills.

These experiences also lay the foundation for later work in math, writing, and science.

Children explore the natural and social world through science, geography, history, art, and music. Lessons introduce big ideas—like land and water forms, life cycles, seasons, and global cultures—in ways that are hands-on and developmentally appropriate.

This area of the classroom nurtures curiosity, compassion, and a growing sense of global citizenship.

In their third year of Primary, Kindergarteners take on a leadership role. They model independence, guide younger classmates, and deepen their own understanding through teaching and mentorship.

Kindergarten students participate in small-group enrichment lessons in reading, writing, and math, and enjoy special classes in our da Vinci Lab, music room, and art studio. They leave Primary confident, capable, and ready for the next stage of their journey.
