St. Stephen’s Episcopal School, Houston (SSESH) seeks a caring and compassionate Orientation Lead Teacher (Full Time) to work with students ages 15 months to 3 years old. Qualifications

  • AMS (American Montessori Society) certification in Infant & Toddler (birth – age 3)
  • Experience as a Lead Teacher in an Infant & Toddler classroom
  • Passionate about working with young children
  • Ability to reinforce boundaries in a firm but gentle manner, nurturing students without compromising students’ accountability
  • Supportive, flexible, and collaborative; strong communication skills
  • Certified in first aid, automated external defibrillator (AED), and CPR, or willing to become so certified
  • Completed Safeguarding God’s Children training, or willing to be so trained
  • Authorization to work in the United States
  • A successful background check, including fingerprinting

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement Montessori curriculum and methodology throughout the day
  • Establish a well-prepared, age-appropriate classroom following Dr. Montessori’s principles, fostering the needs of the whole child / individual development
  • Help children work cooperatively in an atmosphere of respect, using the Positive Discipline approach
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of children in the classroom, playground, and on campus
  • Maintain and prepare academic and attendance records
  • Communicate in a professional and timely manner with parents, caregivers, and other stakeholders, maintaining confidentiality 
  • Make learning visible by sharing photos, videos, and narratives via the Seesaw App
  • Organize and present parent education; organize and participate in school and classroom events
  • Maintain certification in Infant & Toddler; stay abreast of current topics in education
  • Attend faculty, level, and individual meetings and work collaboratively with the Orientation Team
  • Maintain and supervise the cleaning and sanitizing of the classroom and materials
  • Manage and maintain classroom inventory and budgetary resources
  • Comply with SSESH policies and procedures
